Crosswalk Accident in Queens Kills 1-Year Old Girl and Injures Mother

A deadly crosswalk accident in Queens has claimed the life of a 1-year old infant and injured the girl’s mother, leaving her in the hospital. The tragic life-altering crash happened on March 23rd at the intersection of 23rd Avenue and 94th Street around 9PM. The little girl was in a stroller being pushed by her mother when a large Dodge Ram pickup truck turned into the crosswalk and struck them both. The little girl was killed instantly. Eyewitnesses report hearing the heart-rending sound of the stroller being crushed and the mother screaming for help.

The mother, whom police declined to identify at the time, was transported to a nearby hospital where she was listed in stable condition.

NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad was on the scene within minutes and is actively investigating this latest deadly car accident in New York City. The driver of the truck did stay at the scene of the accident and is reportedly working with police. He could be facing failure to yield charges and in addition to more serious criminal charges if the investigation uncovers that he was driving distracted or speeding at the time of the crash.
