Man Killed in MTA Bus Accident in the Bronx

A night out on the town to celebrate a promotion at work turned tragic for a young man earlier this month. 23-year old Louis Inoa was killed in a tragic MTA bus accident in the Bronx early on the morning of September 18th. He and a friend had been out celebrating and were on their way home in a livery cab when Inoa became ill. He asked the driver to stop and exited the vehicle into the street when a BX1 MTA bus came down Kingsbridge Avenue. Inoa was struck by the bus and was caught under the right rear wheel.

Rescue crews arrived and rushed Inoa to a hospital. He died shortly after arrival. Sadly, Inoa was just two blocks from his home (near the intersection of Kingsbridge Avenue and West 231 Street) when the deadly bus accident in the Bronx occurred. In a sad twist, the young man's family was only notified of his passing several hours after his death.

The NYPD did investigate the crash but say no charges-for either driver-will likely stem from the tragic bus accident in New York. However, after investigating the driver of the cab, it was revealed that he was indeed unlicensed and driving the vehicle illegally-a crime that occurs all-too-often in New York.

Bus accidents in New York like this are often caused by the bus driver's inability to see the pedestrian victims or their inability to react quickly enough to either stop or maneuver the bus out of the way. Whether or not drivers are responsible for such bus accidents in New York, victims and their families are left struggling along the long road to recovery.
