A terrible bus accident in Queens that left first responders in shock killed three people injured over a dozen more. The charter bus accident occurred at 6:15 AM at the intersection of Main Street and Northern Boulevard in Flushing. Video surveillance cameras caught the horror as it unfolded.

The Q20 bus (operated by the MTA) was following its normal route when a charter bus operated by Dahlia Travel blew through the intersection and slammed into it. The impact was so great it actually pushed the MTA bus sideways off the street and into a nearby restaurant. In addition to extricating injured passengers from the mangled wreck, firefighters fought to put out a small blaze that erupted inside the restaurant.

The scope of the tragedy was soon revealed: three people were declared dead–including the charter bus’s driver and a pedestrian who had become trapped under the bus. 16 of the passengers (from both vehicles) were taken to nearby hospitals. Several of them were listed in critical condition.

An investigation into the bus crash Queens uncovered the charter bus driver’s checkered past. He had actually been fired by the MTA because of an accident he caused in 2015, crashing into two other cars on I-95 and immediately fleeing the scene. He was arrested and received 18 months of probation. While this prior crash involved his personal automobile, it does demonstrate that the driver had a history of making bad decisions while behind the wheel.

The victims and the surviving family members of those who were killed can sue the driver and Dahlia Travel for pain and suffering, lost wages along with unpaid medical expenses. The surviving family members can sue for pain and suffering the time the dead victim survived after the crash, funeral expenses and the amount of money that the victim would have contributed to the household.
