A devastating truck accident in Brooklyn left a stretch of street looking like a warzone after the driver lost control earlier this month. The truck was traveling down Russel Street in the Greenpoint neighborhood of Brooklyn around 3 in the morning on February 5th when it suddenly slid out of control and smashed into several parked cars, finally coming to rest against the façade of a family’s home.
Thankfully nobody was injured in this terrifying truck accident in New York City but residents of the neighborhood got the shock of their lives. One woman said she thought there had been an earthquake only to wake up and find the delivery truck resting against the front of her house.
One of the vehicles into which the truck smashed prior to contacting the home was hit so hard that it spun around the opposite direction from which it was parked.
FDNY first responders and Department of Building investigators were on scene within minutes to inspect the damage and assess whether the home which had been damaged were structurally sound.
The driver, who has yet to be charged, was allegedly on the street unlawfully as the thoroughfare is limited to local deliveries only and signed accordingly. When questioned about the early morning truck crash in Brooklyn, the man said he swerved to avoid a cat an instant before smashing into the parked vehicles and blazing a trail of destruction.
