Company Fined $10,000 for Temporary Sidewalk Violations in New York City

A construction company was fined for its failure to safeguard pedestrians passing by a construction site in The Bronx last month. The New York City Department of Buildings (DoB) issued its monthly digest of construction and building violations and fines last month. One of the biggest fines was against a construction company for failing to install a temporary sidewalk. Temporary sidewalk accidents in New York City are critical to the safety of individuals passing by construction or renovation sites. Pedestrian Accident in Brooklyn Claims Life of Elderly Man

A pedestrian accident in New York City claimed the life of an elderly man who was out walking his dog early this month. The 66-year-old was struck by a vehicle while crossing Fourth Avenue in the Bay Ridge area of Brooklyn. The victim was struck so hard that he tumbled into the air, striking another car, before coming to rest near a tree.

Woman Killed in Façade Accident in New York City Spurs City Inspectors into Action

A 60-year-old woman was strolling down the street in early December when she was killed in a terrifying accident. The victim was struck by a massive piece of building façade that broke free from a Manhattan high-rise. She was killed immediately and although EMTs arrived within minutes, there was nothing they could do. While façade accidents in New York City aren't common, they do occur multiple times per year. Construction Accident in Brooklyn Leaves Man Dead

An early morning construction accident in Williamsburg Brooklyn left a 59-year old veteran construction worker dead. On the morning of December 9th the victim was reported glazing windows on the exterior of the building undergoing massive renovations at the site of the old Domino Sugar Factory when he fell. Witnesses to the fatal fall from heights accident said that the man was on the sixth-story scaffolding erected on the building's exterior and fell four stories, landing on the second-story scaffolding.
