Truck accidents in New York City seem to be more common these days. Large tractor trailers race down our highways while box trucks crowd our city streets. We can’t stop the wheels of commerce from turning but the congestion and danger these big trucks create is enough to put any New Yorker on edge.
Unfortunately, in recent months there have been a number of high-profile truck accidents in New York City. Some of the worst have caused pile-ups and multiple injuries. There have even been a few fatal crashes as well. Just last week there was a crash on the LIE. Thankfully this latest truck accident in Queens was relatively minor but did send one person to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
The crash happened very early on the morning of January 19th (at about 3 AM) on the Long Island Expressway in Queens. Somehow a massive tractor trailer actually rolled over onto its side. The crash backed up traffic for miles. When EMTs arrived on the accident scene, they transported one individual to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Obviously, this Queens truck accident could have been a lot worse. Anytime you have an 80,000 pound vehicle hurtling down the pavement at highways speeds, the potential for carnage is very high. Many such crashes are caused by distracted or over-tired truck drivers who have been on the road far too long. Some are even caused by drivers under the influence of drugs or other intoxicants.
If you’ve been injured by a driver’s recklessness or lost a loved one in a fatal truck accident in New York City, there are steps you can take to make your recovery process easier. At-fault drivers and/or the companies they work for can be made to pay for hospital bills, lost wages, funeral expenses, lost financial support, and more.
