Falling Objects Accident Leaves Construction Worker with Head Trauma

Falling object accidents in New York can be fatal at job sites around the city. One lucky construction worker escaped with his life though seriously injured from his recent accident. Earlier this month an unnamed construction worker was rushed to the hospital with severe head and facial trauma after an unspecified piece of construction material fell from above and struck him in the face.

Woman Killed in Yet Another Brooklyn Bus Accident

The string of tragic MTA bus accidents in New York City just seems to get longer every day. Another pedestrian was struck and killed earlier this week bringing the number of individuals killed by MTA buses in the past six weeks up to four. 62-year old Eleonora Shulkina was attempting to cross near the intersection of Avenue Z and 17th Street in Brooklyn when the B36 bus made a left turn and struck her just after 6 PM Tuesday night (December 15).

NYC Tour Bus Accident Sends Dozens to the Hospital

Over two dozen people were injured in a bizarre New York City tour bus accident in Pennsylvania over the weekend. The bus was travelling down I-70 when it overturned, throwing passengers around the cabin like rag dolls and ejecting the driver. Two dozen passengers were sent to two local hospitals for a variety of injuries. The bus driver was airlifted to nearby UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with severe head trauma as a result of being thrown through the windshield. When it rolled over, victims said it was like something out of a movie. One passenger reported that there was "shards of glass everywhere" and that passengers were stepping on each other in order to get out of the overturned bus.

Partial Building Collapse in Manhattan Closes Street for Days

Passersby ran for their lives last week when tons of masonry rained down in a "hail of bricks" on the Upper East Side. The bricks fell from high up on a building along First Avenue and crashed to the sidewalk below. The partial building collapse in Manhattan could have led to a potentially deadly sidewalk accident but thankfully everyone in the danger zone was able to escape unscathed. However, at least one taxi cab was smashed by the falling debris.

A tragic car accident in Brooklyn has left one woman dead and nine other individuals injured. Eyewitnesses say the woman was trying to get into her own car at the time she was run down. The initial crash occurred on Thanksgiving Night as the suspect, Michael McBean, drove his white Mercedes into an SUV along Pennsylvania Ave. McBean then attempted to flee the scene of the accident and then struck a pedestrian in the process.

Teenager Alleges Police Brutality in New York After Being "Roughed Up" While Arrested

Late last month, the NYPD was called to an Ecuadorian restaurant in Sunset Park after a fight broke out during a viewing party for a boxing match. Police arrived and arrested two men for trashing at least part of the restaurant. However, one teenager involved in the fracas says that the NYPD officers involved roughed up a suspect and then used excessive force to subdue him when he tried to intervene on the victim's behalf. If true, these allegations would point to yet another alleged case of police brutality in New York City.

Construction Accident in Manhattan Kills Worker

One man was killed and another injured in a terrible construction accident in Manhattan on November 20th. The two men were part of a construction crew demolishing an older building in Midtown when the building collapsed on top of them, trapping them under tons of rubble. By the time crews were able to extract the two men, one man had already died.

Third MTA Bus Accident in New York in Less than a Month

A recent plague of MTA bus accidents in New York have left several individuals dead and at least one elderly man in the hospital fighting for his life. This latest avoidable accident involving an MTA bus left an unnamed 64-year old man in critical condition. The man was struck by the M22 MTA bus on Manhattan's Lower East Side on Monday, November 23. Eye witnesses say that he was either crossing the street or standing on the street corner around 11 in the morning when the MTA bus made a left turn at the intersection of Madison and Jackson Streets and struck him.

Commission Concludes Con Ed at Fault for Deadly Building Collapse

A new report released by the Public Service Commission places the blame for a deadly building collapse in Harlem last year squarely on the shoulders of Con Edison. The report says that the utility company was deficient in its duty to inspect and maintain the gas lines feeding buildings in the area and that a cracked joint led to a fiery explosion which leveled two residential buildings and killed several people last year.
