Too Many School Bus Accidents in New York Occur While Child is Crossing the Street

Landmark research into school bus accidents in New York City and around the country has uncovered some shocking statistics. While there were 2,551 injuries stemming from school bus accidents in 2018, only 1,700 of those injuries occurred during collisions. The remaining 800 accidents involved children either waiting for buses at stops or crossing the street to climb aboard while the bus is loading.

Fatal Bicycle Accident in Queens Marks Milestone for New York City

The fatal bicycle accident in Queens that claimed the life of a 65-year-old man was the 25th such crash in New York City this year alone. The accident happened on October 14th at the intersection of Cross Bay Boulevard and East 4th Road in the Broad Channel section of Queens. The cyclists was struck and killed by a car, the driver of which apparently failed to see the victim. The driver of the car stayed on scene and was not charged with any crimes but it is unclear whether or not charges might be filed at a later date.

Fire at Office Building in Times Square Injures Three

Three workers were treated for relatively minor injuries after an "All Hands" fire at a high rise office building in Times Square late last month. The blaze began in the ductwork of the building and quickly spread-sending plumes of dark smoke billowing out of the building and causing the evacuation of at least one nearby hotel. There was much confusion surrounding the emergency call, including that the fire had spread to a nearby building.

Wrongful Conviction in in New York City Overturned After 26 Years

A man is free after spending 26 years of his life in prison for a crime he didn't commit after a wrongful conviction in New York City court back in 1993. The man had been identified by witnesses as the trigger man in a deadly 1993 Bedford-Stuyvesant shooting that killed one man an injured a ten-year-old girl. He was convicted, largely based on this testimony, and sentenced to prison.

Terrifying Dog Attack in New York City Leaves Toddler Severely Injured

A four-year-old girl was seriously injured in a dog attack in the Bronx earlier this month. The girl was allegedly mauled by a pit bull that had escaped from a fenced-in enclosure at a home on Huxley Road in Riverdale. Witnesses were able to pull the dog off the girl after striking it several times with a baseball bat and then called emergency services. EMTs arrived at the scene within minutes and rushed the girl to nearby Jacobi Hospital for immediate treatment. She was admitted to the hospital and later listed in serious but stable condition.

Bus Accident in New York City Ends with Vehicle Inside Deli

A terrifying bus accident in New York earlier this month left several people injured and at least one building in need of emergency repairs. Several passengers on a Nassau Inter-County Express bus were injured when the vehicle slammed into an SUV. The driver failed to regain control of the massive vehicle before jumping the curb, crossing the sidewalk, and smashing into a storefront containing a deli full of customers.

Fatal Apartment Accident in Brooklyn Claims Life of Toddler

A two-year-old boy died late last month after falling out of a sixth-story window at an apartment complex in Brooklyn. This tragic apartment accident in New York City happened on September 25th around 11 AM at the Linden Plaza apartments on Eldert Lane in Brooklyn. Neighbors and the boy's parents were alerted by screams and EMS crews were called in immediately. They arrived within minutes and rushed the boy to nearby Brookdale Hospital but his injuries proved too severe for him to overcome.

Bicyclist Critically Injured in New York City Truck Accident

A man was hospitalized in critical condition after being run over by a garbage truck in Gowanus earlier this month. The terrifying truck accident in New York City happened on September 9th around 10 PM at the intersection of 12th Street and Third Avenue. The victim was riding an e-bike when a garbage truck making a left turn smashed into him. The victim suffered massive head trauma and was rushed to a nearby hospital by EMS workers.
