Bizarre School Bus Accident in Brooklyn Causes Chain Reaction Crash

A school bus accident in Brooklyn resulted in a chain reaction crash involving at least nine other vehicles in early October of this year. The bus-a yellow school bus-was travelling through Williamsburg around 4 in the afternoon on October 18th when it crashed into a parked vehicle near the intersection of Bedford Avenue and Wilson Street.

That car then smashed into another, which smashed into another and so on until a total of nine parked vehicles had been damaged.

There were no children involved in this school bus accident in New York City but two adult individuals did sustain injuries. One woman (a pedestrian) was struck by flying glass and cut while walking on the sidewalk as well as the bus matron who was riding inside the vehicle. Those injuries were classified as "minor" by NYPD officers responding to the call.

It's suspected that the driver of the bus suffered some sort of medical emergency right before the crash. No criminal charges were filed.

Thankfully, this school bus accident in Brooklyn was not as serious as it could have been. Had the bus been loaded with small children at the time of the collision, the number of injured could have been much higher. Indeed, children are the most likely to be seriously hurt in bus crashes while adults in the same vehicle often escape with minor scrapes and bruises.

When your child is in the care of a bus driver, that driver, the company they work for, and even the school which contracted the bus can be liable for your son or daughter's injuries in the event of an accident. If negligence contributes to a crash that leaves your child injured, those parties along with all the other vehicle owners and drivers involved in the collision can be held financially responsible for your child's injuries.
